James River Cellars
Our reunion will take place at James River Cellars, about 1-mile north of Virginia Center Commons and Greentop Sporting Goods on Rt. 1 (just after the driving range on the right). Click on the link in the top right corner of the page to get easy driving directions and a map. The reunion will go from 4:00-8:00pm on Saturday, September 23rd and will be an indoor/outdoor activity with casual dress. We'll have wine tasting hosted by the winery, a catered BBQ dinner, soft drinks, several kegs of beer and live music by Scattered Smothered and Covered (see below).
Planted in 1996, the first vines at the JRC vineyard started to make their mark in the Virginia wine market when the winery first opened to the public in 2001. After only their fourth year of operation, James River Cellars won the highest award in Virginia. Their 2004 Dolce Vino won the prestigious 2005 Governor's Cup. Their Chardonel also won a Silver Medal at the 2002 San Francisco International Wine Competion, and the Virginia Wine and Food Society Tasting Panels have rated several James River wines with ratings ranging from 83-85 out of 100.
The elegantly landscaped patio/picnic area at the winery is the perfect place to socialize, meet up with old friends and classmates and to sip an ice-cold beer or a chilled glass of Hanover White. Along with the beer and soft drinks for our event, the winery's vast selection of reds and whites ensures there is something to please everyone's palate. Throughout the year they host "Fridays on the Patio" an indoor/outdoor event featuring local musicians, tours of the winery, light food and wine tasting. They're experts at events like this, so get ready to have some fun!
Wines: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chambourcin, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Merlot, Chardonel, Dolce Vino, Hanover (Chambourcin, Chancellor, Cabernet Sauvignon), Hanover White (Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, and Muscat) and Montpelier Blush.

Scattered Smothered & Covered
This 'acoustic roots' band from Richmond, Virginia draws its inspiration mainly from American musical traditions such as old-time, country blues, and bluegrass. The band also reaches into a wide range of other genres including jazz-swing, classic rock and reggae. A handful of originals thrown in also helps to define their unique, good-time sound. On mandolin and vocals is Chris Hale, on acoustic guitar is Brett Edwards, and on upright bass is Todd Hipps.
